Sylvia Naa Kwakai

Sylvia Naa Kwakai Nyante is a seasoned banking executive with over three decades of progressive experience in the financial sector, specializing in retail banking, agricultural financing and credit risk management. She is currently the Deputy Managing Director in charge of operations at the Agricultural Development Bank PLC (ADB).

Sylvia’s expertise spans across key leadership roles, including General Manager of the Recovery Division, where she established and operationalized Loan Workout Departments and introduced early warning indicators for risk mitigation. Her strategic oversight has consistently enhanced recovery performance. She demonstrated exceptional leadership in driving strategic recovery initiatives, managing non-performing loans, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

In her earlier roles as the Group Head of Agricultural Finance, Sylvia spearheaded the development of credit strategies, and asset-based financial products for the agricultural sector. She worked closely with external stakeholders in the agricultural space to implement some of governments initiates and policies on agriculture Her ability to align departmental goals with broader organizational strategies significantly improved credit quality and financial performance. As the Group Head she had oversight responsibility over three zonal offices comprising 21 branches. She provided operational and performance support to facilitate the growth and turnaround in underperforming branches.

Sylvia’s career foundation was built through extensive experience in credit operations, branch management, and agricultural lending. Her ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teams has been a constant asset, from her early days as a Credit Officer to her tenure as Branch Manager and Area Manager.

She holds an Executive MBA in Finance and a B.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ghana, along with an ACIB from the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana, where she is a Fellow. Passionate about excellence, leadership, and community impact, Sylvia combines technical banking proficiency with a collaborative and disciplined approach to achieving institutional growth and sustainability.
